INDONESIA IN MOURNING

PRAY FOR INDONESIA: Slides Video by Ucan Nurul Iman and Agung Production

(Cirebon, 7 November 2010)

Nurul Ucan, a young boy from a very small city Cirebon, West Java, who very much cared of what has happened in his beloved country Indonesia, together with his friend Agung in their limitation, try to attract the attention of their fellow countrymen not only to mourn but to have deep empathy and concern in helping the victims of natural disasters.

They are both to poor to go and help people in the damage areas, but they have a little knowledge in blogging and announce to the world that GOD sent quite a number of reminders for people to get alert to live in peace and keep the nature friendly.

In their own ways these two boys who just graduated from high school try to remind all leaders and people in this beautiful country not to live in greed and corrupt, but to remember the poor and the marginal people who always become the victims of those who have money and power!

People may run away and escape from Tsunami if the early warning systems are available all around the country. The peasants and the farmers of Mount Merapi should not have to worried of leaving their houses if they are not too poor. So many people leaving under poverty level, because too many insensitive and greedy people like Gayus Tambunan and the lawyers and officials who are fond to protect the greedy corruptors yet still around unpunished! Instead, even as detainees they can enjoy watching tennis match in the island of gods or various other interesting places here and there, whereas coincidentally people die and dieing because of natural disasters and poverty!

This country is in mourning, not because of natural disasters and epidemics that continuously hits this beautiful land, but foremost because of the ruin of the morality and sensibility of quite a number of people like Gayus! I wonder when this irony would be gone and dead penalty would apply to corrupter and irresponsible officials and lawyers.

I still remember vividly, once my friend a senior journalist from a well known state own news agency said that a corrupter should get a heavier penalty than a terrorist because they are the one who actually ruin this country! I am afraid I should say amen to him now!
